David S. Lopez, Ex-Officio
David S. Lopez, FACHE, serves as an ex-officio member of the Harris County Hospital District Foundation Board of Trustees by virtue of his position as president and chief executive officer of Harris Health System.
He is a respected community leader with extensive administrative healthcare experience.
Mr. Lopez became permanent president and CEO of the Harris County Hospital District in April 2005after nearly a year as interim president and CEO.
Before assuming his duties as president and CEO, Mr. Lopez helped lead many initiatives to strengthen the fiscal health of Harris Health System and improve the health of the community.
As chief operating officer, he created strategic partnerships with business, industry and community leaders to ensure that Harris Health received state and federal funds to improve patient access to primary and specialty care.
Currently, he serves on the Texas Hospital Association board of trustees.
family upbringing in San Antonio taught him that people can always use a helping hand during times of need.
father, a Pentecostal minister, instilled in him the principle of a ministry-oriented life and he
perceives the work of Harris Health System as a continuation of that philosophy.

Mr. Lopez holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in health care administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.
lives in Clear Lake, Texas, is married to Patricia, and has five children, who all have advanced degrees.
