David Kennedy, C.Eng., MIMMM, Director, Managing Director. Metals and Alloys, is the Founder of Less Common Metals. He is a Chartered Engineer with 27 years of experience in the Rare Earth Sector. David has been successful in building the excellent relationships between LCM, and large multi-national corporations across a range of industries. He is co-author of a book on Pressure Diecasting Technology (published 1983) and has published papers on the technology and economics of Rare Earth alloy production. David Kennedy, Professor of Structural Engineering at Cardiff School of Engineering, is working with Waikato University's Associate Professor Ilanko on a project exploring 'negative structures'.
New-Zealand2 The research centres on the mathematical concept of negative mass, using the principles in this field of study to develop a theoretical framework that will help predict the vibration behaviour of complex structures. This could affect everything from the design of perforated brake discs to the assembly of aircraft wings and fuselage.
Professor Kennedy will be working directly with Associate Professor Ilanko and partners from the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany and the University of Sheffield.
