David A. Kaplan

David A. Kaplan is a senior editor at Newsweek. Mine's Bigger (July 2007) is his third book. The Silicon Boys (1999), about the culture and history of Silicon Valley, was a national bestseller that was translated into six languages. The Accidental President (2001) was the definitive account of the Bush-Gore post-election drama of 2000. At Newsweek, Kaplan has written cover stories ranging from profiles of Clarence Thomas, George Steinbrenner and Rudy Giuliani, to analyses of Silicon Valley wealth creation and American capital punishment, to features on the selling of "Star Wars" and the Great Home Run Chase of 1998. His cover story in 2006, breaking the Hewlett-Packard boardroom spying scandal, was a finalist for the Gerald Loeb Award for business journalism. His work has also appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Wired, the Washington Post, Parenting, Food & Wine, and various Op-Ed pages. Kaplan is a frequent guest on TV and radio, and has appeared on Today, Charlie Rose, Inside Politics, Book TV and other programs.
