The house, which has 2,400 square feet of space and sits on 23 acres, was purchased for $45,000, according to county tax records.
"We were looking for a place with a little bit of land, maybe 15 acres or so," David Haversat
"In Connecticut, the price of land is prohibitive.
We spent three years looking at properties in the [Oppenheim] area, and we met with a real estate agent."
The couple has a 10-month-old son.
"We thought, 'What a great place to raise him,'" Haversat
"The previous owner made some improvements downstairs," Haversat
"The people who bought it [before we did] started on the upstairs.
I've been working on the kitchen and the bathroom."
has an agricultural background.
He works as a book publisher and is a professional magician.
