1st XI Match Report (h) -v- Merrion - Division 1 - Phoenix Cricket ClubPhoenix Cricket Club

Given the dodgy weather forecast Captain Ford inserted the visitors after his victory in tossing the coin.
The eleven who took the field for Phoenix were Captain David Ford, M D Masud Ahmed, Richie Lawrence, Emmanuel "Lucky" Peterson, Adam Chester, Eoin Cleere, Thomas Anders, Rory Anders, wicket keeper Jonathan Wardell, Ben White, Sim Singh. There followed a sustained batting assault and despite rotating the bowlers to keep them fresh Captain Ford's men were unable to come up with the unplayable delivery they needed to make another inroad. Captain Ford and Masud Ahmed began the chase with Phoenix needing 290 to win.

2nd XI Match Report (h) Mullingar - Division Four - Phoenix Cricket ClubPhoenix Cricket Club

phoenixcricketclub.com [cached]

It was a day to bat first and after calling correctly at the toss Captain Ford chose to do just that.
The batting order was David Ford, Amit Battan, Thomas Anders, Vish Vaidyanathan, Rory Anders, Eoin Cleere, Adam Chester, Tyler Balogh, Branem Adams, Ben White, Mark Gibson-McKenna. Ford settled in steadily with some early scoring shots but this was not to be Battan's day as he was bowled by I Haider for 6. Ford had reached 45 at this point and was looking on for a big score if someone could hold the other end up. The stand added 159 and lasted from 2.08 to 3.46 (less a 6 minutes drinks break) and during this stand the crowd applauded when Ford raised his bat as he had reached a century. Suddenly the Mullingar reply was struggling and now Captain Ford unleashed the guile of Adams on the rest of the order. Man of the Match: David Ford 118 runs Youth Training Times 2017
