According to David Calandro, director of deli operations at Dierbergs, "We are so pleased with the dual-ovenable containers made of VersaTray plastic that we are continuing to use them for other specialty dishes that must be reheated.
Our catering department is selling pasta con broccoli, fettuccine Alfredo, mostaccioili with meat sauce and spaghetti with meat sauce in large party-sized containers made of this versatile plastic."
VersaTray plastic has the ability to withstand temperatures ranging from -40°F to 400°F.This means that foods packaged in VersaTray plastic can go from the freezer to a microwave or conventional oven. This is important to people with discriminating palates who think many foods taste better when cooked in a conventional oven.
Our Holiday Meals program allowed families and friends to spend more time together and less time cooking and cleaning up," said Calandro
For their entrée, purchasers could select a turkey breast dinner, roasted rosemary pork loin or honey-crusted spiral-sliced ham.Side dishes included old-fashioned au gratin potatoes, mashed potatoes, praline sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, a fresh vegetable medley and traditional bread stuffing. The food was packaged in six different-sized containers, so that consumers could easily select the amount needed to serve their guests.Depending on size, the containers were covered with a clear plastic dome or gold foil.A label with the eye-catching VersaTray logo was attached along with reheating instructions for microwave and conventional ovens.
