Hisundergraduate degree was in Speech/Communication with an emphasis in Theater.
masterâ€™s degree was in Adult and Continuing Education and his
doctorate degree was in Education with a specialization in Teaching and Learning.
This year, Dr. Byers received his second master's degree, History with academic certificates in both Leadership in Western Civilization and Leadership in Religious Studies.
also has numerous college credits in early childhood education and adult education/training.
Dr. Byers hasbeen a teacher, trainer, and a leader in a variety of settings (from preschool to grad school to homeschool) for the entire 30-year professional career.
He has been engaged in a variety of consulting, research, and volunteer projects, as well as being the Director of Mentoring for ASTD Nebraska.
family moved to Nebraska in 1996 to become Family Teachers at Boys Town.
e and his
wife homeschool their children--two graduated from high school at home
and have gone on to complete college and start their careers; four more are at home to continue to be homeschool through high school.
wife have co-authored two books on homeschooling.
The first book was entitled â€œCollege-Prep Homeschoolingâ€ (now in its second edition) came out a few years ago and was published by Mapletree Publishing
They also published a second book, which was entitled "Leadership Lessons for Homeschooled Teens"; this book just came out a few months ago.
free time consists of spending time with my family, reading, watching movies (time travel plots are his
favorites), watching the History channel, watching old television shows on DVD, listening to music, photography, gardening, and just trying to enjoy life.
collects a variety of things just for fun including decks of playing cards, marbles, stamps, comic books, antique books, cool toys, books for children, and more.
