The Board of Directors is drawn from leaders of the natural health and natural foods community, including Alex Jack, an author and teacher whose books include The Cancer Prevention Diet and Diet for a Heart; Edward Esko, an international lecturer and author of Healing Planet Earth; Gale Jack, a cooking teacher and author of Amber Waves of Grain cookbook; Shizuko Yamamoto, founder of the International Macrobiotic Shiatsu Society; Michael Potter, president of Eden Foods; and David Briscoe, a macrobiotic teacher and author of A Personal Peace.
David Briscoe, an educator, consultant, and author, has been active in the natural foods community since 1972. He has managed the Amber Waves Café in Kansas City; served as general manager of the Vega Study Center in Oroville, California; and founder of Macrobiotics America. He lectures regularly to medical and lay audiences across the United States and abroad and directs a multi-media distance learning program on the Internet. He is the co-author of A Personal Peace, contributing author to The Whole Mind, and a columnist for Macrobiotics Today. A former secondary school teacher, he has also trained teachers at the university level. He lives in northern California with his wife, Cynthia, and six children.
