SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS COLLEGE NAMES BEHRS AS 15TH PRESIDENT Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. (January 22, 2007) - After a national search, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has selected David G. Behrs, Ph.D., as the institution's 15th president. Behrs, who currently serves as both the associate provost for university initiatives and the vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Dominican University of California, has more than 22 years of experience in higher education.Behrs will be SMWC's first lay Catholic president.

The 47-year-old Behrs holds a Ph.D. in counseling and student development from American University, a M.S. in counseling and student personnel from Shippensburg University, and a B.S. in history and social science from Elizabethtown College. He has served Dominican University, an independent university of Catholic heritage located 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge, for the last five years of his career, and his responsibilities have included fundraising, program development and planning, and student affairs and enrollment management.

's history. Behrs will become the 15th president of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College when SMWC's current president, Joan Lescinski, CSJ, leaves office on June 30, 2007.

Prior to his experiences at Dominican, Behrs served as vice president for enrollment management at Lynchburg College, assistant dean for the School of Business Administration at Marymount University, director of admission for George Mason University School of Law, and coordinator of admissions at Pennsylvania State University.He
has also authored several articles on enrollment management, which have been featured in higher education journals and publications, including "The Journal of College Admissions
," "Admissions Marketing Report" and the "National Association of Graduate Admission Professionals Journal
." During his career he has often lent his skills and experiences to community organizations, serving on the Board of Directors for the Latino Film Festival and working with the North Bay Business Council, San Rafael Chamber of Commerce, Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, Marin Education Fund, and Mill Valley Schools Task Force on Education.He has also volunteered with Catholic Charities, and he has worked as a tutor for the San Rafael Canal Area.
