Pundyk, a Sisler High School industrial arts teacher, was presumed drowned after he was thrown from a boat into the Winnipeg River near a Minaki cottage on July 18.

WINNIPEG - Ontario Provincial Police continue to search for 25-year-old Winnippegger Dave Pundyk.
Pundyk went missing following a two-boat crash on the Winnipeg River near Minaki Saturday. The incident also left two injured.
Both boats were returning from a party when they struck each other. A 27-year-old Kenora man operating one boat was handed a three-day suspension after failing an alcohol test. Pundyk, a star volleyball player turned Winnipeg teacher, was on the other boat as a passenger.
My son was a student of Mr. Pundyk two years in a row and was away at the time of this accident. When I texted him the horrible news he was devastated and could barely hold his composure. For an eighteen year old young man to be so moved by this tragedy shows what type of teacher and friend Mr. Pundyk was to him and all his students. He went above and beyond his duties of being a teacher. I had the pleasure of speaking with him after my son's surgery from a football injury and Mr. Pundyk went out of his way to make sure that all homework was sent home so he would not fall behind. During the recovery he checked in to see how the injury was coming along. What a great loss of a bright young star. Our most heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
Prayers go out to the family and friends of Dave.
Dave could have been a legendary teacher/role model bringing in all his skills as a volleyball player and as a person to his students.
Wow...I played v-ball with Dave in '04 at RRC and he was a fantastic guy!!
