Rev. David DeFor
is being charged in the criminal complaint, being accused of doing a host of things that one would not expect from a good steward of someone else's finances.
Police say that DeFor
furnace with a $5,000 check from the woman and then used $3,000 for a bowling trip.
says that it was all a reward for his
decision to take care of the woman, but police are saying otherwise.
has been charged with five counts of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
He is not a young man himself, and is the 69-year old pastor of the Austin Church of Christ.
is maintaining his
innocence and should not be considered guilty unless proven to be so.
But if he
is found guilty by a jury of his
peers, the pastor faces up to 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
