Dato' Hj.Ismail Ngah has been the Director General of the National Landscape Department Malaysia since 1996.He served in the Federal Town and Country Planning as Town planner (1981-1990) and was promoted to be the Senior Landscape Architect (1990-1992), and subsequently the Director of the Parks and Landscape Division (1992-1996) in the same In 1996, he became the first Director General of the newly formed National Landscape Department.He is the principal advisor to the Malaysian Government on issues pertaining to the country's landscape.He is also the advisor to the Malayan Nature Society.He was elected the President of the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM) from 1996-1998 and 1998-2000.He
has written and presented many papers, some of which are, "Landscape the Nation" at the International Symposium on Man and Nature (1999) at Kunming
