Reverend Terrence SaDarryl Izzard, ..., 26 May 2007 [cached]
Reverend Terrence SaDarryl Izzard, affectionately, known as Darryl, is a native of Kershaw, South Carolina.
At an early age Darryl acknowledged the call of God on his life and was licensed into the preaching ministry in May of 1990, at the Sandhill Baptist Church, Rev. Lonnie B. Patterson, Pastor.
Reverend Izzard understands the balance between the natural man and the spiritual man and therefore obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, concentrating in Management from Benedict College with a minor in Marketing.Currently he is completing a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies at Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina.
Musically, this man of God began serving the body of Christ at the young age of 14 as organist of the Ebenezer A.M.E. Zion Church in Camden, S.C. where his grandmother, the late Mrs. Beola Jones, served as his first Minister of Music and his grandfather, the late Rev. Ed Jones, was Pastor.Reverend Izzard later joined the Sandhill Baptist Church in Kershaw, SC where he served as Minister of Music from 1984-1989.While pursuing a degree in Music Education at the University of South Carolina, Darryl auditioned and was selected for membership on the University's Gsopel choir, A Touch of Faith. Not only did he serve as choir president for two years, but he began teaching and directing during this season as well.
Knowing that this was a call and not a hobby, Izzard also joined the Orangeburg chapter of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc. founded by the late Thomas A. Doresey and began to develop both spiritually and musically. In addition to serving two effective terms as National 1st Vice President of the Youth and Young Adult Department in this great convention, he also served as Youth Director of the Midlands Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America started by the late Reverend James Cleveland.Reverend Izzard has impacted so many lives while serving in ministry. He has established or helped to build music ministries that have reached hearts across the globe including: The Eau Claire High School Gospel Choir, The Revival Choir of Columbia, Three-One-Three Music Group, The Macedonia Baptist Church Music Ministry and the anointed Music and Worship Arts Ministry of Family Worship Church of God in Christ.
One of the highlights of Izzard's musical career has been his tenure as Director of the Award-Winning Benedict College Gospel Choir.Under his leadership this choir has been noted as one of America's most outstanding collegiate gospel choir for the past several years at Black Music Caucus, National Collegiate Gospel Choir Competition.
Reverend Izzard is also the founder of the Christ N U Youth Mass Choir, a 150 voice choir of young people from around the state of South Carolina.
Reverend Darryl Izzard is a humble servant who loves the Lord with all of his heart, and believes strongly in the power of praise. His life thought is, ,To God Be the Glory, Great Things He Has Done.

The State | 08/27/2005 | Local gospel group to record its first CD, 27 Aug 2005 [cached]
Dressed in jeans, a T-shirt and a baseball cap, Darryl Izzard stood before the altar and beneath the chandeliers, the congregation in the palm of his hand.
With a wave, he had harmony - the altos, the sopranos, the tenors and the bass. With a closed fist, immediate silence.
Izzard, who is also the gospel choir director at Benedict College, founded the group in June 2004 as a summer program for people ages 12-26.
After a few weeks, he knew the program would last longer than a summer, so he immediately planned to record with the help of musical friends he'd made in his own career.
Izzard announced toward the end of Thursday's practice that "Prince of Peace" would be performed in a lower key.
"Can you handle that?"he asked the group.
Answering for them and gesturing for response, he said, "I can."
