Patt married her high school sweetheart, Darrell Gowan, on April 27, 1952 in McCleary.She graduated from Elma High School in 1951.She had two children, Sharyl and Daralynn.After the girls were raised, she worked at the Elma Plywood Mill as a bookkeeper, and later at the McCleary Elementary School as the business manager, from where she retired after 17 years.Patt was very active in the community.She was a 4-H leader; a member of the Thimble Club, the Birthday Club, the Pinochle Club, the Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Friendship Rebekah Lodge; and active in the P.T.A.She enjoyed family gatherings, where she was often the host.She enjoyed camping with the family.She was extremely sharp and competitive at card playing.She was an excellent cook, with pie-making at the top of the list.In her later years, she was known to be quite lucky at the casino.Patt was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Gowan, her parents, Ruby and Walter Zahnow, and her sister, Villette Haskell.
