career has spanned 30 years and covers a broad range of business experience, typically in very demanding environments.He has been a senior executive in start-up and Fortune 50 companies, has led the consolidation of a fragmented industry, and served with a premier management consulting firm advising middle market and larger clients.His
functional skills include general management, strategy, marketing, finance, and business investment transactions.His
transaction experience totals $7 billion and includes acquisitions, joint ventures, minority investments, licenses, strategic partnering, venture investments and divestitures.His
experience has been concentrated in technology companies, including extended periods in software, communications and pharmaceuticals, as well as advisory experience with a range of industrial and consumer businesses. As a Tatum CFO Partner, Mr. Dvorak is currently consulting with early stage technology companies.Most recently, he was COO of In-Pipe Technology Company, which is introducing a new biological technology for wastewater treatment, where he helped organize the business and raise angel and venture capital financing.Previously, Mr. Dvorak was a founder and COO of CultureWorx, Inc., a startup software company where he raised over $13 million in venture financing, developed the business model and helped recruit the permanent management team.Prior to joining Tatum, Mr. Dvorak held several senior corporate development positions with Ameritech Corporation, a $16 billion communications company.In his position as Co-Head of Corporate Development, he was responsible for more than 20 transactions involving diverse communication technologies and services, including the Internet.During this period of unprecedented change in the Communications industry, he led Ameritech's first significant diversification by creating the #2-ranked firm in the security monitoring industry. For a period of over 10 years, Mr. Dvorak held a variety of finance, strategy and business development positions with two pharmaceutical firms, one a well-established firm, G.D. Searle & Co. (currently a subsidiary of Monsanto Corp.), and the other, Smith Laboratories, Inc., an early-stage firm that became publicly-held.His early experience at Searle was in a turn-around environment, wherein he helped lead the restructuring of the worldwide financial management organization, resulting in modern planning, reporting and control at 20% less expense, and where he led 10 investment transactions that created new strategic positions in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America.For eight years, Mr. Dvorak served as a strategy, marketing and financial advisor in positions with the consulting firm A.T. Kearney, Inc. (currently a subsidiary of EDS Corp.) and as a co-founder of a boutique firm, Smock Quinn Group.Mr. Dvorak
has advised on diverse strategic and marketing issues, as well as on a broad range of financial issues ranging from restructuring to acquisitions and divestitures.Early in his career he also spent two years with Inland Steel Company as a commercial research analyst.Mr. Dvorak has a B.S. in International Economics from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago.
