Darleen Gage has been the owner of Shear Pleasure since 1984.Darleen began her education at Lakeview Elementary School and then moved on to St. Domonic Parochial to achieve her junior high school education.Her
grandmother began the family legacy with her
four children, and seven of her
eleven grandchildren, and many of their cousins entering the beauty industry.Darleen's uncle was the dirst in the family to open his
own salon and in future years may other salons and beauty schools followed.
was only seven years old, Darleen
began frequently visting her
uncle's salon where she
became intrigued by his
salon's environment.The energy, enthusiasm, and beauty that permeated from that salon created an aura of intrigue and desire that directed Darleen's creative talents right into the heart of the industry.Through the years to come, as many of her peers pondered over marriage, children, and homemaking, Darleen dreamed about the challenge of becoming an artist, an educator, and a career woman.
The family moved to a suburb of Houston, Texas where Darleen
high school education.She was awarded two different beauty schaolarships but elected to attend Continental Pivot Point Academy.
Upon graduation in 1975, she
training with a very progressive and successful area salon.It was not long before she
recognized the great gulf between here school education and the actual on-the-job experience.This realization compelled her
to pursue the advanced education and experience that would allow her
to become the accomplished professional she

In 1975, Darleen
married Daniel Gage, who was also a hairstylist.

has not only volunteered to do all of the hair and makeup for the Fashion Merchandising Department's annual spring fashion show at Alvin Community College
but also has taught classes each semester on styling adaptability, image projection, and all facets of hair care.Darleen has served on several advisory committees for the cosmetology department of local high schools and colleges as well as is often invited as a guest lecturer.
After seventeen years of marriage, Darleen
and Daniel now have three children, two girls and a boy.
