Expected to put his
name on a contract with Ottawa in the not-too-distant future is Danny Kight
, a 32-year-old former Indianapolis Colt and Baltimore Raven from Decatur, Ga. Kight was active for 28 games with the Colts as a kickoff specialist to complement former Toronto Argo Mike Vanderjadt, starting in 2000. Kight
also suited up for 10 games with Baltimore and, among the five NFL camps he
has attended, made it to the last cut with the New York Jets in 2003. He
is represented by Toronto-based agent Gil Scott, who also has Vanderjadt, former Renegades all-star Lawrence Tynes and Renegades GM Eric Tillman in his
"We're very interested in him," Tillman said of Kight
, who played in NFL Europe for the Rhein Fire as well.
The Renegades could also bring in another American kicker to compete with Kight
and Canadian Ian Hewitt, although that decision may be delayed until the end of next month.
