Rev. Danita Anderson appointed to Woodridge UMC
We are truly blessed to announce that Rev. Danita Anderson is coming to Woodridge United Methodist Church effective July 1st, 2014 as our Pastor.
On July 1st, 2001, Rev. Anderson was appointed as the first African American woman superintendent of the Aurora District. She was the second African American woman superintendent in the Northern Illinois Conference. After her service as superintendent, Rev. Anderson felt the call to be "back in the pulpit".
Upon leaving her duties as Aurora District Superintendent in June of 2009, Danita was appointed as the first African American woman pastor of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church in Glen Ellyn. In 2012 Danita was appointed to the St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Homewood.
This past Wednesday evening the Staff/Parish Committee was blessed to share time with Pastor Danita. She was intent on listening to what they shared on our behalf. She advised two items that she takes very serious. They are the Liturgical calendar and the sharing of the Sacraments (baptism and communion). She also advised she welcomes the times when we will be sharing a laugh, clapping, and dancing.
If you have any questions in regard to the United Methodist Church cabinet's blessed assignment of Pastor Danita Anderson as the Pastor of Woodridge United Methodist Church effective July 1st, 2014, we invite you to speak with Kathy Slayden or any members of the Staff/Parish Committee.
