Danielle Mauz Danielle Mauz has shown leadership in all aspects of her life, and her current role at Dow Chemical has already given her many opportunities to do so. As Manage Production Work Process leader for 3 sites, she sets the goals for the work process leader/coach group and clarifies expectations for a more reliable, safe site through influence. Her group has implemented the operate plant work process to >93% in 2 years and has reached stage 1 empowerment at 2 of the sites. She has also been given other responsibilities to grow her leadership experience, such as leading an interview team, creating a budget for 2012, and facilitating a group reorganization. Outside of her immediate job role, she has also been fundamental in implementing 2 employee networks on site, the New Professionals Network and the Women's Innovation Network. Danielle was one of 2 employees in each case that went to site leadership to present the need for these networks and to gain financial support for both. The New Professionals Network has held 4 events in 2011 and has been successful with retaining new engineers. The Women's Innovation Network in the Houston Hub was recognized as the most active chapter in Dow North America in 2011, holding 6 events and increasing membership by 200% from 2Q to 4Q 2011. Previously, in other job roles, Danielle has exceeded expectations and led the Process Safety Focal Point group in reporting of near misses and enforcing root cause investigations so that these safety issues were corrected. She also was recognized as leading the most successful and engaged Improvement Team at the Deer Park site for 2 years. Outside of her immediate job role, Danielle jumps at the chance to lead any effort that is important to her and in which she can have a significant impact. Danielle has led a United Way campaign that was the most successful for her site, to date, since it raised over $52,000 for the Bucks County, PA United Way. She has also been a mentor for a third grader at a local school for a year, and a college student for a semester while she was a co-op at her work. She also stepped up this year to be one of the captains for her women's soccer team for all 3 soccer seasons in 2011 In SWE, Danielle has contributed as a leader within her company's SWE section by leading the career booth and recruiting effort at 2 national conferences, as well as in the regional sections. In the Philadelphia section, Danielle served as a Section Representative in 2008, and now in the Houston section, she first served as the Volunteer Coordinator in early 2011 (and being recognized as the volunteer of the year), and now is the Treasurer for the current fiscal year. Danielle sees the value in getting young women excited about careers in math and science and will continue to help lead the effort in any way that she can!
