WMAQ-TV has today announced the hire of Daniella Guzman, who will be joining the station in March as its new morning newscast co-anchor.
fills the vacancy left when Zoraida Sambolin left at the end of last year to take a position with CNN
Daniella Guzman comes to Chicago from Houston, TX's KPRC-TV where she has been a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter since 2006.
Prior to working for KPRC-TV, she has worked for the Telemundo station in Houston, the Univision network in Miami, Televisa Mexico, and for a short time, she was a part-time reporter for the Houston Chronicle's "La Voz.
has also did advertising sales for Galveston, TX's KTMD-TV.
Guzman, who is a native of Houston, graduated in 2003 from the University of St. Thomas in Houston with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bilingual Journalism/Communications.
is fluent in Spanish and can also speak Italian.

husband Hector gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Sofia.
