has been writing for almost 15 years some of the most well crafted, literate and emotionally charged songs which draw upon the influences of jazz, soul, folk, pop, world and classical.Coupled with her songwriting, she is a passionate and enticing pianist, and possesses a smooth intimate voice which makes her one of the most unique performers in music circles today.Her creativity extends itself into business, where she is the creative director for her Minerva Road Entertainment Group - a self run label, production office for her music projects as well as, film/video and multimedia projects.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Toronto, Daniela Nardi
musical studies on piano at the age of five at the Royal Conservatory of Music
.Further classical studies and dreams of Juilliard were interrupted with the British pop invasion of the early 80's where bands like The Police influenced her
to change instruments to bass guitar and take up songwriting as the new medium of self expression.Throughout her
was involved in various bands and songwriting projects.From pop to punk, latin to country, the road led her directly into York University where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music (Honors), specializing in the areas of composition, electronic music and performance in 20th century music and improvisation.
Post university life has seen Daniela
as a composer for various independent film projects.As well, she
has performed on the other side of the lens as an actor and voice over artist.However, a time of personal crisis hit.The mid 90's brought a time which forced Daniela
to stop all work, move back home and heal.More time was spent on reading, reflecting and writing.It was during this time that Daniela
turned to her
songwriting and began to lay the foundation of a repertoire of work that would be the touchstones for her
path in music.
After a year of preproduction, recording, mixing and mastering, singer/songwriter/pianist Daniela Nardi
is releasing her
self produced debut studio album."One True Thing" is the first full length recording for this FACTOR supported artist and a follow up to the critically lauded "Spadina Sessions".
It is the spirit of the truth seeker, spirit of a mind that is desiring to tap into and understand the full spectrum of the human experience that form the foundation of the album, asking the big questions of "who am I?" and "why am I here?"Most songs were written completely, or at least started, while personal/creative hiatuses that Daniela
took prior to recording this album "I believe the songs reflect a deep passion and emotion, a melancholy but in that, an honesty about where I am at and what I may be concerning myself with."
