Dan Boyd has been a member of FASA for thirty-two years.
He started his principal career at Chiefland High (1969) and then moved back to Alachua County where he served as principal for 25 years at Gainesville High before becoming assistant superintendent.
He tried to retire in 2001 but instead worked as associate director of FHSAA until he was appointed superintendent of Alachua County Schools in 2004.
dream was to be a school superintendent like his
father, who served as Duval County superintendent from 1940-1952.
Boyd follows a long list of outstanding superintendents who have been president of FASA or departments.

I have always been a member because every educator should participate and contribute to their professional organization.
I look forward to building a strong relationship between the school boards, superintendents and school administrators so that we can make a positive difference for public schools.
We have to work together with parents to preserve and enhance public education which I believe is a cornerstone of democracy."

Dan is a graduate of Landon High School in Jacksonville, and earned a BA and Masters at the University of Florida and obtained his doctorate at Nova Southeastern University.
wife Darla is an administrator in Alachua County
They have six children, all of whom attended public school.
