Rev. Damian J. Ference graduated from Borromeo Seminary/John Carroll University in 1998 and Saint Mary Seminary in 2003. Ordained a priest for the Diocese of Cleveland, he served as parochial vicar at Saint Mary Parish in Hudson, Ohio from 2003-2007.
Rev. Ference earned a licentiate in philosophy at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 2009. He writes regularly for Fr. Robert Barron’s Word on Fire blog, and his articles have appeared in America, Catholic Universe Bulletin, Commonweal, Dappled Things, Emmanuel, FirstThings.com, Homiletic and Pastoral Review, Human Development, Pastoral Life, Seminary Journal, The Plain Dealer, The Priest, U.S. Catholic and Worship. He is also a lifetime member of the Flannery O’Connor Society.   DFerence
Currently, Fr. Ference is part of the formation faculty at Borromeo Seminary, where he is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy. He is also the founder and director of TOLLE LEGE summer institute at Borromeo Seminary

Father Ference graduated from Borromeo Seminary/John Carroll University in 1998, and after earning his M.A. and M.Div. from Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology he was ordained for the diocese of Cleveland in 2003. He served as parochial vicar at St. Mary Parish in Hudson, Ohio from 2003-2007. In 2009 he earned his licentiate in philosophy from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Ference has been part of the formation faculty at Borromeo Seminary since 2009.
In addition to writing for Word on Fire, Father Ference has published articles in a wide variety of periodicals, including America, Catholic Universe Bulletin, Commonweal, Dappled Things, Emmanuel, FirstThings.com, Homiletic and Pastoral Review, Human Development, Pastoral Life, Seminary Journal, The Plain Dealer, The Priest, U.S. Catholic and Worship. In the fourth chapter of Matthew's gospel, Jesus comes upon Peter and Andrew, who were in the middle of their work as fisherman. He tells them "Come follow me." St. Matthew tells us that at once they dropped their nets and followed him. Next, Jesus moves on to James and John who are cleaning their fishing nets. He called them too.
