said the Cancer Council study showed, as for many other cancers, excess weight and obesity was a risk factor for myeloid leukaemia.
-The increased risk was four to five fold for myeloid leukaemia,êê Dr English
said obesity was also linked with increased risk of colon cancer, post-menopausal breast cancer, endometrial cancer, kidney cancer, and oesophageal cancer.
-This research reinforced the evidence that maintaining a healthy weight reduces the risk of cancer."Dr English
said taking part in regular physical activity, and making fruit, vegetables, cereals and other low fat foods the basis of your diet were important to maintaining a healthy body weight.Dr English
