Dale EhnertFuneral services were held for Dale Ehnert on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Sebeka, Minn. with Pastor Mark Manning officiating.Dale was laid to rest in Haycreek Cemetery, rural Sebeka, Minn. Dale attended country school in Homestead Township at District #186.Dale moved to Fergus Falls and worked at his Uncle Oscar's farm and then returned to New York Mills to help out on his parents farm.From November 19, 1945 to November 1, 1946 Dale served in the United States Army during World War II.On August 19, 1947 Dale was united in marriage with Mabel Ethel Rix in South Dakota.Dale and Mabel resided in Park Rapids for a year and in 1950 moved to Blowers Township where they rented the family farm from Gerald Ehnert.In 1952 Dale and Mabel purchased the farm from Gerald and farmed there until 1999 when they retired and passed on the family farm to their daughter, Sheila Puttonen and her husband Tim.In 1999 Dale and Mabel moved to the Kaleva Apartment in New York Mills.Dale enjoyed lake trout fishing in Canada, woodworking, traveling, hunting, the outdoors, cutting wood and spending time with his grandchildren.He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Berg Nylund American Legion Post #456 in Sebeka, Minn. On May 19, 2003 Dale passed away at his home in New York Mills, Minn. at 80 years of age.He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
