Cindy Weintraub, a 55-year-old marketing veteran in Los Gatos, has noticed the change.
Ms. Weintraub, who worked at Cisco for 12 years, took an early-retirement package last year.
She figured that, with all her experience, she would find a similar position close by as soon as she wanted.
But when she
started hunting for a new job late last year, she
struck out at several big tech companies based around San Jose
, who remains out of work, says she
realizes that much of the tech growth is coming from newer firms, many of which are based in San Francisco-but at her
