Athletics Development Officer Phone: 706-864-1972 Email: cris.perkins@ung.edu Cris Perkins came to the University of North Georgia as the Development Officer for Athletics after nearly 14 years as a Development Officer in the Technical College System of Georgia, the last three as Executive Director of the Lanier Technical College Foundation. While at Lanier Technical College, Perkins helped secure the largest private individual donation the history of the college that established the Pauline Ivey General Scholarship Fund and secured new revenue streams by developing corporate partnerships with companies such as Nordson, Chico's FAS, King's Hawaiian and the Atlanta Falcons as well as private foundations including the Roy C. Moore Foundation. Prior to his time at Lanier Technical College, Perkins spent five years as Director of Institutional Advancement at Athens Technical College and six years in the same position at Gwinnett Technical College. During his career, Perkins also worked as Director of Media and Public Relations for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association as well as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. He worked as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Southern Mississippi from 1997 through 2000 and was the media contact for volleyball, softball and football. In 1999 and 2000, the USM softball team became the first team in NCAA Softball history to reach the Women's College World Series in its first year as a program. He was the football media contact for the 1999 Southern Miss Conference USA Championship team that defeated Colorado State in the Liberty Bowl. He began his career as a sportswriter at the West Memphis Evening Times before moving on to the Review Appeal in Franklin, Tenn. A native of Franklin, Tenn., Perkins graduated with a degree in Journalism from Nicholls State. Perkins is married to the former Sharon Brander and the couple have two children, Katie and Nick.

Perkins named new head of LTC Foundation
By Staff EMAIL STORY CONTACT EDITOR PRINT Tweet click to enlarge OAKWOOD - Cris Perkins is the new Executive Director of the Lanier Technical College (LTC) Foundation. Perkins comes to Lanier Tech from Gwinnett Technical College where he spent nearly six years as part of its Development Team as Director of Institutional Advancement. He brings over ten years of experience in the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). He also served from April 2002 through December 2006 as Director of Institutional Advancement at Athens Technical College. "Being tasked to grow the Lanier Technical College Foundation presents a wonderful opportunity," Perkins said. "I look forward to working with our Lanier Tech community, our college leadership, faculty, staff and students to provide our students with the tools they will need to enter the workforce." While at Gwinnett Tech, Perkins worked primarily with the college's construction and trades programs as well as helping to secure funding for the college's Gwinnett Advancement Program and Building Operator Certification Programs. He also worked with area businesses to set up internship and scholarship programs. ltc President Russell Vandiver said, "Lanier Tech is delighted that Cris is joining our staff. Cris will continue that heritage while helping the College move forward to be able to help more students." Prior to working in the TCSG system, Perkins has held a number of Public Relations roles throughout his career. He was director of media and public relations for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, assistant director of athletic media relations at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, and Director of Public Relations for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association . He earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Journalism from Nicholls State University. Perkins' wife, Sharon, is beginning her seventh season as Head Softball Coach at Georgia Tech.
