- This new league has been organized by Craig Thiessen, formerly of our league Executive
- This league will not run out of any of the Edmonton Soccer Centres
, but out of some older city rinks - He
is running this league strictly as a business ... they are not currently incorporated as a non-profit group nor have they applied to do so. - This new "Metro Ball Hockey" League has NOT been approved by the member leagues in Alberta, nor has it been approved by Canada Ball Hockey, as it states in the literature the new league handed out.We have been in contact with both groups, and they did not even know about this league. - We did not give Mr. Thiessen
your mailing address or any address lists from our data base.He
got the addresses on his
own, as he
had no access to our mailing lists. We would never allow your address to be passed on.Ask him where he
got your mailing address ... you do have the right to know. - In case you were not aware, Craig resigned from the board last May 24th, 2003 after a disciplinary decision against his Titans team did not go to his liking. He
later asked to return to the board, but he
was not allowed. We have sent a letter to the Provincial group, Wild Rose Ball Hockey, expressing our concern. It is attached below for your information.
As you may or not be aware, Mr. Craig Thiessen
has decided to start his
own spring-summer ball hockey league in Edmonton. He
started handing out and mailing literature this past weekend to our teams. We were very surprised to see on his literature that his new league, "Metro Ball Hockey", is a member of Wild Rose Ball Hockey and Canadian Ball Hockey Association. He
goes on to state that teams will have a chance to go to Provincials, Westerns, and Nationals.
WHEN WAS THIS DECISION MADE?WHO MADE THIS DECISION?
Reviewing the Wild Rose Bylaws & Regulations, there is a formal procedure for a new league to apply to Wild Rose Ball Hockey Association
.There has not been a meeting of Wild Rose since the Provincials last August, so how could this have been accomplished? We have spoken with a few members of the current Wild Rose Executive, and they have no knowledge of this league, nor were they asked about approving this new league.
So was the decision made by Mr. Thiessen
, who is current President of Wild Rose Ball Hockey?Just because he is President DOES NOT give him the right to make such major decision on his own, without checking with the rest of the Provincial Executive or the other member leagues in Alberta.
