Craig Lister, Marysville FFA Advisor, explains the process the students go through each year for the project.
"The first day of school we evaluate the results from the sale of the calves and whether or not we were profitable," said Craig Lister, Marysville FFA Advisor.
"We then run a breakeven to see what they will need to bring as fat cattle to make money for the purchase.
In the spring, we complete a Frontier Farm Credit AgStart loan to secure funds to purchase the calves."
also says they burn the pasture if needed and repair the fences prior to May 1.
Calves are purchased within the budget at Marysville Livestock, Inc.
