Vice President, Government Network SolutionsMCI WorldCom Government Markets
As Vice President of Government Network Solutions, Mr. Hennesy has direct responsibility for the successful design, implementation, and operation of MCI WorldCom's largest federal government networks-representing billions of dollars in revenue.Government Network Solutions (GNS) provides a full range of services, from planning and coordination to systems integration and transition, to network design, engineering, implementation, operations, maintenance, and customer support.Mr. Hennesy's oversight responsibilities include implementation of the Federal Aviation Administration's Leased Interfacility National Air Space Communications System (FAA LINCS) and Telecommunications Satellite program (FAATSAT), the Defense Information System Network (DISN) Switched Bandwidth Manager Services-CONUS contract for the Department of Defense, as well as the U.S. Postal Service's Managed Network Services (USPS MNS) program.
Most recently, Mr. Hennesy assumed responsibility for one of the largest transitions in telecommunications history, FTS2001.The FTS2001 contract with the General Services Administration is MCI WorldCom's largest win ever from the federal government. For all FTS2001 services, GNS has full responsibility for the design of major government network requirements, as well as all agency-specific transition, migration planning, and implementation.
Under Mr. Hennesy's direction, GNS has evolved into a dynamic organization of engineering and technical professionals who excel in building quality telecommunication networks.Government network implementation requires simultaneous direction of hundreds of matrix personnel in cross-functional teams, and his organization's excellent reputation in the federal telecommunications marketplace is in part due to Mr. Hennesy's successful coordination of these valuable resources.Under his leadership, the LINCS Network has exceeded 99.999 % annual availability, which surpasses even the government's stringent performance standards for the safety of the flying public.
