As Vice President of Government Network Solutions, Mr. Hennesy
has direct responsibility for the successful design, implementation, and operation of MCI WorldCom's largest federal government networks-representing billions of dollars in revenue.Government Network Solutions (GNS) provides a full range of services, from planning and coordination to systems integration and transition, to network design, engineering, implementation, operations, maintenance, and customer support.Mr. Hennesy's oversight responsibilities include implementation of the Federal Aviation Administration's Leased Interfacility National Air Space Communications System (FAA LINCS) and Telecommunications Satellite program (FAATSAT), the Defense Information System Network (DISN) Switched Bandwidth Manager Services-CONUS contract for the Department of Defense, as well as the U.S. Postal Service's Managed Network Services (USPS MNS) program.
Most recently, Mr. Hennesy
assumed responsibility for one of the largest transitions in telecommunications history, FTS2001.The FTS2001 contract with the General Services Administration is MCI WorldCom's largest win ever from the federal government.For all FTS2001 services, GNS has full responsibility for the design of major government network requirements, as well as all agency-specific transition, migration planning, and implementation.
Under Mr. Hennesy's direction, GNS has evolved into a dynamic organization of engineering and technical professionals who excel in building quality telecommunication networks.Government network implementation requires simultaneous direction of hundreds of matrix personnel in cross-functional teams, and his
organization's excellent reputation in the federal telecommunications marketplace is in part due to Mr. Hennesy's
successful coordination of these valuable resources.Under his
leadership, the LINCS Network has exceeded 99.999 % annual availability, which surpasses even the government's stringent performance standards for the safety of the flying public.
also directs an Information Systems Support group, which provides government contract support through development of customized management information systems.
A 16-year veteran of MCI WorldCom, Mr. Hennesy
career in Network Engineering where, for six years, he
held a number of key engineering management positions, including managing MCI WorldCom's switched network, the design of MCI WorldCom's first control circuit CCS7 network, and the creation of databases for the company's first two international gateway switches.In 1985, he
received an Excellence in Service Award, MCI WorldCom's highest recognition.In 1990, as assistant to the VP of Southern Region Operations, he
oversaw the day-to-day operations of plant and equipment, during which time he
received the Commendation Award for outstanding effort.Prior to being named Director in 1995, Mr. Hennesy
held senior management positions in Mid-Atlantic Coordination, Private Line Provisioning and Program Development, and International Network Planning.
In 1997, Mr. Hennesy
successfully transitioned GNS from Global Engineering Services to Government Markets, for which he
was honored with a Business Markets' Up Start Award.Promoted to Executive Director in 1998, and to Vice President in 1999, he
continues to lead this critical organization in its mission to build the best telecommunication networks in the world.
A Virginia native, Mr. Hennesy
holds the B.B.A degree in management and marketing from James Madison University.
