Craig Cannon Elected To Serve As Secretary Of North Carolina Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division
Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC announced today that Craig Cannon, a member of the firm's Products Liability Litigation Practice Group, has been elected to serve as the Secretary of the North Carolina Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division.Cannon is an associate in Womble Carlyle's Winston-Salem office.
The Young Lawyers Division's broad-ranging responsibilities include promoting public service and the professional development of lawyers in the initial stages of their careers.The Young Lawyers Division has approximately 4,000 members spread throughout the state of North Carolina.
Cannon has previously held a variety of leadership positions within the Young Lawyers Division and was named the 2005-2006 recipient of the Charles F. Blanchard Outstanding Young Lawyer Award by the North Carolina Bar Association.He is also active in the triad-area community and currently serves as a member of various volunteer boards, including the Board of Trustees of Old Salem Museums & Gardens.
Cannon's law practice at Womble Carlyle is focused on complex commercial litigation matters, including software, information technology, products liability, tort and bankruptcy litigation.
Cannon received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Iowa College of Law.He is admitted to practice before all North Carolina State Courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

An attorney for one of the country's largest banks, Craig Cannon is renowned nationally for his devotion to providing pro bono legal services to disaster victims, military veterans, and other people in need. As the national director of the American Bar Association (ABA)'s Disaster Legal Services program, Cannon has worked with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to improve legal services for thousands of disaster victims, including those affected by Hurricane Katrina. In 2008, he became the youngest lawyer to win the ABA's Pro Bono Publico Award. Cannon also remains active in the North Carolina Bar Association, where he chairs the organization's 5,500 member Young Lawyers Division, and other charitable organizations.
