According to Reagan, some of the shifts in spending behavior trace their roots to the financial crisis, while others are a result of a "24/7 always online culture. Moreover, consumers at every income level are questioning their spending habits and asking if a purchase is "worth the price. In fact, among the mid- and higher-level retailers, the answer to this question is increasingly becoming "no."
Reagan continued that "fast fashion" retailers such as H&M, Zara, Forever 21 are gaining market share due to their superior value.
