CORY STONE Asst. Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Player Personnel Stone, a Memphis native, played at the University of Tennessee (UT) and lettered in 1993 and 1994 for the Volunteers as a defensive tackle. Stone played eight years in the Arena Football League, beginning in 1996 and ending in 2005 with the Philadelphia Soul. Stone was a starter for a New York Dragons that holds the record for the most points (99) ever scored in an Arena Football League Game. Stone started his coaching career in 2006 with the Bakersfield Blitz of af2.
He helped coach the Blitz to their best season ever and helped lead the team to their first playoff victory ever. Stone coached the 2006 AF2 linemen on the year Jerry Turner.

"(The defensive line) are learning a lot as far as the basics and what it takes to play the game," Dorados defensive coordinator Cory Stone said."I have been pretty pleased with their work ethic.They are pretty much coachable.Once these guys become coachable, the rest of the stuff pretty much takes care of itself."
Stone said before last season the Dorados had some question marks on defense but it all worked out.

HIDALGO - Rio Grande Valley coaches Marty Hammond, Cory Stone and Frank Franz took a mini-vacation after wrapping up the best record in the af2 on Saturday, driving that night to New Orleans for ArenaBowl XXI.
"It was just about soaking up the whole atmosphere, the crowd, the big game, and how the players were so intense, and I think our team will be ready for it if we get to the ArenaCup," said Stone, the defensive coordinator for RGV (15-1).
