"Lord Have Mercy, Black is Back! shouted an advertisement for the one-hour newsmagazine talk show "The Zoomer. It will air on VisionTV and is aimed at older viewers.
Black returned to Canada in May 2012 after serving more than three years prison in the United States for fraud and obstruction of justice, convictions that completed a remarkable fall from grace for a man once courted by the rich and powerful.
At its peak Black's former newspaper group was one of the largest media empires in the world, with revenues in the billions of dollars and global daily circulation in the millions.
Its titles included The Daily Telegraph, the Chicago Sun-Times, Canada's National Post, and the Jerusalem Post.
According to a statement, Black will conduct a feature interview with "some of the world's greats" and offer his views on "issues that really get under his skin," including the US prison system.

OTTAWA - Conrad Black, who was convicted in the U.S. and served a prison sentence there, has been removed from the Order of Canada effective immediately, says the Governor General.
Black has also been stripped of his honorary position in the Privy Council of Canada, at the recommendation of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Last November, the Federal Court of Appeal dismissed an application by Black to personally address an advisory council that had been weighing whether he should be stripped of the Order of Canada.
The 11-member advisory council, which made the removal recommendation to Johnston, reviewed Black's membership in the order following his 2007 convictions for fraud and obstruction of justice in the United States. Black was given Canada's highest honour in 1990.

Black has been involved in a string of legal battles related to his U.S. convictions on fraud and obstruction of justice charges when he was the head of the Hollinger newspaper business.
Black has argued repeatedly that the U.S. case against him was the result of an unfair prosecution, pointing to the fact that an appeals court later tossed two of the three fraud convictions against him and two other Hollinger executives.
In the end, he served 37 months of a 42-month sentence in a Florida prison and returned to Canada in May of 2012. He returned under a special temporary permit given that he is no longer a citizen, having renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2001 so he could accept a peerage in the British House of Lords.
Black, who is now back in Toronto, is a columnist for the National Post and co-hosts a current affairs talk show.

Former media baron and convicted fraudster Conrad Black has been removed from the Order of Canada. Black was convicted on several fraud and obstruction of justice charges in the U.S. While he successfully fought against some of the convictions he ended up serving 37 months of a 42 month sentence. He returned to Canada in May 2012. Black returned to Canada under a temporary permit since he had renounced his citizenship in 2001 in order to become a member of the UK House of Lords. Lord Black of Crossharbour, as Black is called, remains a member of the UK House of Lords.

Black was made an officer of the Order of Canada in 1990. The eleven member advisory council for the Order made the recommendation for removal based on Black's U.S. convictions in 2007. Black had applied to the Federal Court of Appeal to address the advisory council on the issue but the application was dismissed. Prime Minister Stephen Harper also recommended that Black be removed from the Queen's Privy Council for Canada a largely ceremonial position of notable Canadians and important politicians who are appointed to advise the Queen.
...
Black is not alone in being removed from the Order of Canada.
...
Black has at least found a job back in Canada as a columnist for the National Post and a co-host of a current affairs show called the Zoomer on Vision TV. While politically conservative, Black has on some issues a fiercely independent streak which along with his questionable business activities has led to his banishment from elite circles. As the enclosed video shows, Black feels that he is being victimized rather than justly punished for his activities.
