The apartment belonged to Colton Pitonyak, a University of Texas business student.
But Colton was nowhere to be found. Police urgently needed to know everything about Colton and Jennifer. "I loved Colton Pitonyak." Laura and Colton met at a party in the spring of 2005. "I was really attracted to Colton from the beginning. "Until you get to know Colton," she continues, "you can't see on the surface that there's something wrong underneath." Laura says Colton led her into the bathroom. But then, surprisingly, Laura says Colton just let her go. I think Laura should have been in an adjoining cell with Colton with nothing but bars separating them for the entire 55 years.

Police searched for Pitonyak, arresting him in Mexico several days later. The body of Jennifer Cave was found shot, mutilated and dismembered in a bathtub at the home of a Texas University business school student, Colton Pitonyak. When police located Pitonyak in Mexico with his girlfriend, Laura Hall, they arrested him and brought her in for questioning. Laura Hall was tried for mutilating Cave after her death, and for helping Pitonyak to escape. Colton Pitonyak was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 55 years in prison.
