You may remember Colton Pitonyak, a student at the University of Texas who was the guy who shot Jennifer Rae Cave, a recent graduate of that school.
Evidently Ashley Hall thought about defending Colton Pitonyak when the police showed up, but then changed her mind. During the trial, Pitonyak testified that Hall couldn't stand the idea of losing him and suggested they dismember Jennifer Cave's body and run to Mexico. Colton Pitonyak is serving a 55-year sentence.

The apartment belonged to Colton Pitonyak, a University of Texas business student.
But Colton was nowhere to be found. Police urgently needed to know everything about Colton and Jennifer. "I loved Colton Pitonyak." Laura and Colton met at a party in the spring of 2005. "I was really attracted to Colton from the beginning. "Until you get to know Colton," she continues, "you can't see on the surface that there's something wrong underneath." Laura says Colton led her into the bathroom. But then, surprisingly, Laura says Colton just let her go. I think Laura should have been in an adjoining cell with Colton with nothing but bars separating them for the entire 55 years.

Colton Pitonyak's former roommate was sentenced in Travis County on Wednesday to 30 years in prison for a 2007 aggravated robbery after state District Judge Charlie Baird found him in violation of his deferred adjudication, a form of probation.
Pitonyak, a former University of Texas student, is serving 55 years for murder in the death of Jennifer Cave, a 21-year-old legal assistant. Cave was found with her head and hands cut off in the bathtub at the Orange Tree condominium that Pitonyak and Mack shared on Rio Grande Street at 25th Street.
