OAK PARK, Mich. (May 24, 2011) - Forgotten Harvest announces the hiring of Colleen Ochoa Peters as Senior Director of Strategic and Planned Gifts.
Effective June 1, 2011, she
will have responsibility for the organization's Major and Planned Gift Development
Since 2005, Peters has served as both a Director and Philanthropic Services Officer for the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.
primary focus has been donor advised fund programs and engagement with donors and professional advisors to establish endowed and planned gifts to benefit charities in Southeast Michigan.
In this role, she
has drawn upon her
20 years of experience in government, business, and nonprofit organizational arenas.
An active member of the Southeast Michigan community, Peters serves on the Advisory Board of the Waterford Foundation for Public Education, and is a member of the Planned Giving Roundtable for Southeast Michigan, Leadership Oakland Alumni Association, and Inforum.
She is a former Board President of both Lighthouse of Oakland County and the Oakland University Alumni Association.
She has previously served as a member of Forgotten Harvest's advisory board.
Representative Gary Peters, are proud parents of Madeleine, Alana and Gary Jr. Besides volunteering locally, Colleen supports First Lady Michelle Obama's service initiatives, and has volunteered with the First Lady at schools, food banks and military bases in the Washington, DC area.
Prior to joining the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, Colleen served as a financial advisor at UBS Financial Services.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Oakland University and a Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University.
