Coleen Clare's textile piece
"I was inspired to make a piece for this exhibition because during my travels for IWDA I have been in awe of the craft work of the women I have visited. It seemed like in every village, in every home, regardless of stress and women were stitching, felting, beading - things of great beauty and great love - out of nothing. I wanted to have a go too - using bits and pieces from my visits - but I have a long way to go to come near my sisters in the Asia Pacific! ~Coleen Clare.
Coleen is well known to the IWDA community as a board member for the past decade and the past Chair of Asia Pacific Breakthrough. She has a strong career record in education, counselling, senior adviser positions in Federal Attorney General's and Office of the Status of Women, CEO of the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare and as a social policy consultant.
Coleen is currently acting Executive Director of IWDA, and has strong international ties having lived and worked in New Zealand, Western Samoa, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and the Maldives.
