Northeastern State University River Hawks
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (6/7/12) --- Clay Davis has been hired as Northeastern State University's softball head coach.
Davis replaces Dee Gerlach, and will begin his duties on July 1, 2012, according to Tony Duckworth, director of athletics and chief athletics officer.
"I am excited that Clay Davis
will lead our softball program as we transition into the MIAA," said Duckworth.
His background as a NCAA Division II student-athlete, successful intercollegiate experience as a head softball coach and proven background as a program builder separated Coach Davis from the other applicants.

Most recently the head coach at Berryhill High School, Davis has a proven track record of turning struggling programs into winners.
In three short seasons, Davis led Berryhill to 90 wins and his 2012 squad bowed out in the semifinals of the Oklahoma state fast-pitch tournament with a final ranking of No. 3 in Class 4A.

Davis received his bachelor's degree from Missouri Valley College and obtained his master's degree from East Central University.
