Cindy is very involved in the community.She is a Girl Scout leader with the Tarheel Triad Girl Scout Council.She volunteers at Alamance Elementary School in Guilford County, serving as a member of the School Leadership Team and the PTA Board.A true sports fan, she currently serves as a Commissioner for the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association.She coaches a 5 and 6 year old soccer team in the Pleasant Garden Soccer Association.Cindy also serves as the President of the Forest Oaks Swim Team and is a Community Swim Association representative.She is also a member of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and the Hokie Club.She also plays USTA Tennis, competitively in the spring and fall.
Cindy has many awards and honors to her credit.In May 2005, Cindy's Team, a team of walkers and runners in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure lead by Cindy, won recognition for the largest Community Team.In 2004 Cindy was chosen as the ABWA Business Woman of the Year.In 1996, she was inducted into the Pulaski County Hall of Fame, selected by the Greater Greensboro Medical Society for medical internship and recognized by the Elon College Police Department for outstanding contributions to the DARE program.In 1995, Cindy was a graduate of the Greensboro Police Department Citizens' Police Academy and recognized by the Southeastern Crimestoppers Association for Outstanding Media Contributions/Productions Award.In 1991, Cindy was Outstanding Commercial Talent for Roanoker Magazine.She was Roanoker Magazine Outstanding Female Television News Personality in 1988, 1989 and 1990.In 1987 Cindy was recognized for Outstanding Media Contributions from the American Cancer Society, Virginia Division.

Join us in welcoming the 2006 Christmas Parade Grand Marshall, Cindy Farmer, with WGHP Fox 8 Morning Show to Asheboro on that evening at 7 p.m.Mrs. Farmer will lead the annual parade down the streets of Downtown Asheboro.The parade route will begin at the corner of Church and Sunset Avenue, head west on Sunset to Fayetteville Street, then south on Fayetteville Street, ending at Kivett Street.
Floats, bands and Santa will join Mrs. Farmer in making the Asheboro Christmas Parade the holiday event not to miss.
Judges will be reviewing the entries from the Review Stand on Sunset Avenue.Cash prizes are presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Best Float and Best Band.
