These were among the recommendations from Coega Development Corporation operations manager Chuma Mbande who spoke at the Eastern Cape Job Summit yesterday.

Mbande, whose presentation focused on ways to "skill" the province, said the Eastern Cape was faced with an artisan crisis at a time when the government's commitment to develop infrastructure had never been greater.
"No skills transfer is happening as older whites leave the trades and young blacks come in. Mentorship isn't happening," he said.
In a province where unemployment was among the highest in the land, training was a real urgency."For every skill there are 60 jobs.And skills development and job creation are head and tail - if one goes down the other goes down."
