Growing up in San Diego, CA, Chuck started sailing with his family in 1966 at the Mission Bay Yacht Club.
has enjoyed racing dinghies all of his
life and in the last 10 years become active in organizing the junior sailing activities in Southern California and the USA.
He is past Chairman of the Southern California Youth Racing Association (SCYYRA) and the San Diego Association of Yacht Clubs - Junior Activities Committee.
Chuck is on the board of the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association (PCISA), the regional organizing authority for high school sailing.
He is a member of he Board of Directors of the San Diego Yacht Club and the US Sailing Area representative for the US Junior Championships.
has competed in over a dozen Mexico races and five TransPacs.
His family is actively involved in racing where son Scott is an active Sabot sailor and two-time winner of the Sabot II (under 12) Championship, son Tyler, a sophomore on the sailing team at Boston College and 420, CFJ, Sabot and Snipe National/North American Champion.
A very lovely and understanding wife Lynn, is a Snipe Women's Champion.
Chuck joined the SRM program in 2002 - competing in the San Diego to Puerto Vallarta race (1,100 miles).
Stark Raving Mad
made a remarkable comeback in that race winning by the narrowest of margins - just 49 seconds - over a J/160 sistership.
This race remains a great memory and a highlight of five decades of sailing.
