Allen County Plan Commission President Charles Bodenhafer
Charles Bodenhafer (Friday, Feb.20, 2004) - Central Transport has received the final okay to construct a large distribution center at Fogwell Parkway and Lower Huntington Road. The Allen County Plan Commission has given final approval to the project, which is adjacent to the General Motors Plant, and will supply parts to that facility. Approval of the plan has been on the fast track, to accommodate an early summer occupancy. As far as Plan Commission President Charles Bodenhafer is concerned, it's a done deal.

The land is owned by Charles Bodenhafer, who is the president of the Allen County Plan Commission.
It's also one of Allen County's largest remaining forest areas and a covenant-restricted area that is supposed to be off limits until 2015. After a series of public hearings and debates (at one point, ACRES land trust offered to buy the land from Bodenhafer), the Allen County Plan Commission voted for only allowing Oakmont to develop only one plat.

Jun. 8--Zoning and land use -- not personal retail preference -- is up for discussion at Thursday's public hearing on a proposed Wal-Mart, said Allen County Plan Commission President Charles J. Bodenhafer. "We have to stick to the facts," Bodenhafer said."Whether, personally, I think a company is good is all relative to my judgment and my framework and my opinion. Therefore, it should not be part of the plan commission's decision." Bodenhafer said public hearings are vital for commissioners to make decisions.Prior to the hearings, he asks speakers to avoid repeating points already addressed. "We are just trying to speed up the process because of the fact we want to hear everybody." Citizens who can't attend a hearing can submit letters for the record.Bodenhafer said signed petitions are entered into public record.
