I was fortunate to be at the MASNA conference in Kentucky when Chris Limcaco, Ty Martin, James Onken, and the guys at Aquatic Engineers first demonstrated their radically new Eco-Wheel® Aquarium System. The system was invented by Chris Limcaco, who is and Aquatic Engineer.Essentially, his ingenious idea incorporates an air driven wheel-shaped algae scrubber inside a protein skimmer of a radically new design. When I was a MASNA, I was telling Chris Limcaco, how impressed I was as a physician with the improved safety of these systems, and began to lecture him on how he should get out and market this aspect.Chris is a quiet guy who doesn't naturally enjoy marketing. After I got to know him better, I learned that he had undergone hand reattachment surgery after nearly complete severance of his hand in an aquarium related accident. He had been giving thoughtful consideration to these problems for many years.
