SNOW REMOVAL: Mayor Glatt introduced Chris Cotter, the City's new Director of Community Services.Mr. Cotter reviewed the various components that go into the process of removing snow. There are a number of snow crews who are called in by the police when weather dictates and certain processes take place.Much depends upon the time the weather changes, the amount of snow, and sometimes sheer luck.He explained that only salt is used in downtown, so that stores do not get tracked full of other materials that are used on major roads. He requested help from the Downtown community in working on some of the issues, such as throwing snow back into the street while clearing sidewalks. There was also discussion about new equipment to assist in the downtown and other areas of the town.Mr. Cotter also described the activities of the Community Services Department and urged members of SDI to discuss any issues that they have with him at City Hall.Mr. Weinberg thanked Mr. Cotter for being at the meeting and asked if a smaller group could meet with him on the snow issues to improve the cooperation level.
Mr. Cotter agreed and such a meeting will be set up shortly.
MINUTES: The minutes of the following meetings were reviewed: September 24, 2003, October 9, 2003, October 29, 2003 and December 10, 2003.
