Christine Ferreira, meteorologist for News Channel 5's Good Morning Cleveland, is the newest local celebrity to sponsor Cleveland APL adoptable pets.
During the month of June, Christine
will talk about her
love for small furry mammals, as well as more traditional pets like cats and dogs.
hopes to help Clevelanders experience the warmth and joy a pet can bring, no matter the size or type.
has cared for more than 40 guinea pigs since she
was a little girl.
"I have always adored small animals, especially guinea pigs.
It all began when my sister and I were younger and got a pair of guinea pigs, Mr. Pig and Mr. Hog.
A few months down the line, we awoke to find "Mr.
Pig" surrounded by 4 babies.
Turns out, Mr. was really a Mrs.!"Many people don't realize that the Cleveland APL
has small animals available for adoption.

Christine came to WEWS from KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon where she was the meteorologist for the morning and noon newscasts.
Prior to that, she was the evening meteorologist at KAVU-TV in Victoria, Texas where she oversaw the station's 24-hour coverage of Hurricane Rita.
Christine earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Millersville University in Pennsylvania.
