Christine Ferreira, meteorologist for News Channel 5's Good Morning Cleveland, is the newest local celebrity to sponsor Cleveland APL adoptable pets.
During the month of June, Christine will talk about her love for small furry mammals, as well as more traditional pets like cats and dogs. She hopes to help Clevelanders experience the warmth and joy a pet can bring, no matter the size or type. Christine has cared for more than 40 guinea pigs since she was a little girl. "I have always adored small animals, especially guinea pigs. It all began when my sister and I were younger and got a pair of guinea pigs, Mr. Pig and Mr. Hog. A few months down the line, we awoke to find "Mr. Pig" surrounded by 4 babies. Turns out, Mr. was really a Mrs.!"Many people don't realize that the Cleveland APL has small animals available for adoption. Please come down today to meet ferrets, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, or cats and dogs with hearts full of love, just waiting for a second chance," Christine said. MEDIA INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY During June, Christine Ferreira is available to speak about why she supports the Cleveland APL, and why adopted a shelter pet is a wonderful option when adding a pet to the family-big or small. About Christine Ferreira Christine Ferreira's forecasts are heard on "Good Morning Cleveland" weekdays from 4:30-7 a.m. You can also catch her forecasts on 102.1 WDOK and 98.5 WNCX. Christine came to WEWS from KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon where she was the meteorologist for the morning and noon newscasts. Prior to that, she was the evening meteorologist at KAVU-TV in Victoria, Texas where she oversaw the station's 24-hour coverage of Hurricane Rita. Christine earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Millersville University in Pennsylvania. She volunteers for the Cleveland APL and loves to speak to students about weather. Christine is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association and holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society.
