Chris Sprowls kicked off the night, talking about his role as a special prosecutor in the gang unit of the State Attorney's Office. Finding ways to deter and mitigate gangs is a serious issue for the Tampa Bay and beyond because they destabilize communities through violence and additional illegal activities. To further his cause, Sprowls is running to become the state representative for District 65 in Pinellas County. Sprowls said he loves his current job and isn't leaving it for any other reason than to make even more of a difference against the problems he's seen.

As a high school senior, Chris was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, a form of cancer that often affects young people. While Chris underwent chemotherapy he used the experience to assist others stricken with various forms of cancer. Currently Chris is a volunteer for the YMCA and helps coordinate the Livestrong program in North Pinellas.
After winning his fight against cancer, Chris attended the University of South Florida in Tampa then continued on to Stetson University School of Law in the fall of 2006. Out of Chris's tireless commitment to veterans, Stetson's Veterans Law Clinic was born.
After graduating from law school, Chris became an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit, which serves Pasco and Pinellas counties. In his capacity as a prosecutor, Chris has tried dozens of jury trials, many involving serious felonies such as murder, kidnapping, and child molestation.
