Chris Cobb definitely has all the rights to walk tall as his first album gets a lot of good reviews from the listeners of Rait FM 99.5. He is a very young aspiring singer who obviously has a lot of talents to show which the whole country has to watch out for. "I am very excited to finally begin to experience what music industry in the country has to offer." Chris Cobb He is raised from the age of 10 by his stepfather who is an Australian. He however doesn't forget his Buka and Morobean roots. In fact, he is proud to say that his singing ability is mostly due to the loving influence of his Uncle Oliver in Morobe.
His music is of profoundly sentimental/rnb type but he also wishes to do more fusion music in the future. He admits that his music sidetracks from the general Papua New Guinean genre but he also emphasized that it is now time for PNG music to move on to a new level. " Mi ino save long kopim music bilong narapela kantri. Local reggae beats em stap longpela taim nau na yumi mas traim niupla stail."
One thing that is very interesting in Chris' first album is that it is sound engineered by Mr. Donald Lessy of the legendary Barike band.

CHRIS COBB BLUES GUITARIST
Way back in 1984, Chris Cobb was lucky enough to open for for Stevie Ray Vaughan.
...
"East Bay Express" music critic, Lee Hildebrand had this to say: "The highlight of (Mitch) Wood's set was guitarist Chris Cobb's three brilliant choruses on "How Blue Can You Get".
...
Vaughan was 28, Cobb was 27.
...
Chris has been playing steadily since then and continues to grow as an intense emotional guitar man improving his technique and musical knowledge, but never at the expense hitting the audience at a gut level."It's communication on an emotional level" says Cobb "I'm using the guitar as a voice to say what's too hard to say with words.Hopefully the audience feels something and is moved, then I've done my job".Besides fronting his own "Chris Cobb Band" since 1988, Cobb has played with many Bay Area blues and rock bands. From 2001 till 2003, Chris toured the U.S. and the world with blues and R&B sensation "Sista" Monica Parker.
...
In 1995 Chris released his first CD, "CC's Blues".This CD sold out two pressings, received national radio airplay and got Chris two European tours as a headliner. He opened shows for the likes of Robert Cray, Johnny Winter, Taj Mahal, Robben Ford and many other famous touring acts.Chris' new CD "Other Plans" is finally available. It has 11 songs, eight Cobb originals and three cover songs. At the urging of many of his fans, Chris has recorded his own version of the Santo and Johnny classic "Sleepwalk".Born in Los Angeles, Cobb was raised at the beach in Orange County. He moved to San Francisco in the mid 70's to attend S.F. State University. He graduated with a B.A. in Economics.Having played guitar since age 13 and professionally since 17, Chris embarked on a career as a full-time musician. In 1986, Chris and a partner opened Real Guitars, a vintage and used guitar store in San Francisco.Real Guitars is known worldwide as the premier vintage shop in San Francisco. The store is still going strong after 19 years and Chris can usually be found behind the counter Monday through Thursday. On the personal side, Chris married Gemma Spelman in 1986.
...
Chris was just getting ready to go in the studio and record a followup to "CC's Blues".After a year of building a new home and armed with an insurance settlement to replace equipment lost in the fire, Chris decided to build his own studio in the new house. This delayed, by a few years, the release of the new CD "Other Plans", but now Chris owns and operates Pacifica Records, a professionally equipped, high end recording studio. If you are interested in having Chris produce or engineer your next CD or demo, you can contact Chris and talk it over.Chris is a veteran of two and a half decades in the Bay Area music scene, and he's still out there -- playing his heart out, from clubs with his own band to festivals with the "Kathleen Cairns and Tattoo Blue" and as a hired guitarist with many other Bay Area Blues Bands. His new CD "Other Plans" is blowing a lot of minds. So, recharge your batteries and get out there to see and hear Chris Cobb!
