EARLY RISERS will get a bit more of NBC10's Chris Cato. I hear that Cato, who has been working weekend nights with Denise Nakano, will make a permanent move to the mornings, anchoring the 4 to 4:30 a.m. slot solo.
Tracy Davidson will join him from 4:30 until 5:30, when Cato will bid adieu and Vai Sikahema will join Davidson.
Sources at the station tell me that this is a permanent move, but an NBC10 rep told me that Cato is just filling in and they like the option of keeping their mornings flexible.
Eagle-eyed NBC10 watchers know that Cato recently filled in for Sikahema when he was in Sochi covering the Olympics.
Cato joined the station in 2012 as an anchor-reporter.

Chris Cato
Chris Cato joined NBC10 in 2012 as a weekend co-anchor. He can currently be seen reporting and anchoring for the station Monday through Friday.
Prior to joining NBC10, Cato was with WSPA in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he had been since 2005. He reported and eventually moved to the anchor desk for the station's 5:30 and 7 PM newscasts. While at WSPA, Cato covered some major breaking news events, including the devastating tornadoes of April 2011 and former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford's public admission of an extramarital affair.
Cato was named 2012 Reporter of the Year by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association. His work on the investigative series Shadow of Sickness received a regional 2011 Edward R. Murrow award for Best News Series. He is also the recipient of numerous awards for his investigative work and environmental reports during his tenure at WSPA. He began his career as a reporter at ABC affiliate WMBB in Panama City, Florida.
Originally from Oneonta, Alabama, Cato graduated Summa Cum Laude from Alabama's Troy University with a double major in broadcast journalism and speech communication. He and his wife live in the Philadelphia area with their son.
