According to Chris Ball, AFOWR National Commissioner, at least six gunfighter groups from across the nation will be judged on presentation, performance, comedy, drama, period-correct clothing and accessories as well as historic accuracy.
Ball, who lives in Pueblo Colo., has portrayed a variety of roles during his 15 years of living history experience including buffalo hunter, cavalry trooper, drover, Mexican War soldier, Indian Wars scout, Western gambler, officer of the law and many others.For the last five years he has been an award-winning performer for his realistic portrayal of James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok.He experiences include three years as the "Best Wild Bill" in Deadwood, S.D. during the Wild Bill Days Festival and the official Wild Bill Hickok for the Abilene, Kan., Heritage Days.Through his extensive research, he is a respected authority on the life and times of Wild Bill Hickok and has been an advisor for film projects has appeared in a number of productions.
