Chris Ajemian Chris Ajemian, BNI New York Chapter One Education Consultant Chris Ajemian Education Consultant CATES Tutoring & Educational Services 122 W. 27th St. 10th Floor New York, NY Tel.: 212.359.4208 Fax: 646.253.1258 Chris Ajemian graduated from Boston College in 1997 as a Theater Arts major in the Pre-Med program. While pursuing a career as a director in NYC after graduation, he began working for private tutoring companies in Manhattan as a biology specialist. Despite having no formal teaching or business training, Chris decided to open his own tutoring practice, grounded in the core principles he found lacking at the companies where he had worked. Starting CATES in 2003 without any financial assistance, Chris has become a self-made professional and CATES has grown into a wholly-owned, full-service education support company that has grossed over $8M in revenues since its inception. Chris' background as an artist has been a major factor in the company's success. His skills in the creative arena allow him to present information in new, accessible, and exciting contexts. As a result, students have flourished under Chris and the CATES staff's guidance. Students, parents, and school administrators have embraced CATES for its value, core principles, and high success rate. Since its inception, CATES has grown prodigiously and now employs over 53 staff members in New York City, Brooklyn, Westchester, New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, China, London, Brussels, and Mumbai, who work with students all over the world and as far as Canada, China, Dubai, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and South America. In the process, CATES has earned a reputation as the premier boutique tutoring, test prep, and admissions support service for the modern student, helping clients improve their test scores by as much as 900+ points across a range of exams and gain admission to the top schools that they and their parents only once dreamed of. In fact, 90% of CATES clients earn entry to their first-choice school. 100% of clients earn entry to one of their top three schools. CATES currently ranks #1 globally for 5-star Google reviews in the educational services space, and Chris can also be seen as a featured expert in the new SAT documentary, "The Test," by Canobie Films. Chris continues to maintain a full roster of students with whom he works, while leading the growth and expansion of CATES. He has successfully transferred the skills he developed in the creative world to the education and test prep marketplace. In the process, Chris is becoming recognized as an innovator in the educational field, as well as a role model for others who wish to find inventive ways to use their creative skill set to support themselves. He has brought a new vibrancy to the field, and continues to challenge the model of how an education company can successfully operate. Chris continues to personally support the arts as a principal Board Member at the Chocolate Factory Theater, which is considered the premiere incubator of progressive thinking in live performance in NYC.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on October 6, honoring Chris Ajemian as our first ever Artist In Industry!
It is still possible to make a contribution to the artist commissioning fund, which will support the work of a single artist in our Fall 2017 Season. The Artist In Industry Award recognized Chris Ajemian for his important contributions to The Chocolate Factory and the wider arts community, and for his business achievements as the founder and Chief Executive of CATES Tutoring. Furthering Chris' commitment to innovation and the arts, Chris asks that contributions in addition to ticket purchases be made to help endow a commissioning fund to support the work of a New York-based dance artist in the FY17-18 season. Chris Ajemian parlayed his Theater degree into CATES, a full-service education support company with locations and clients all over the world. He has designed cutting-edge, large-scale programs for elite educational and charitable institutions and has earned recognition as an innovator in his field. His creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and drive toward innovation find kinship in The Chocolate Factory, of which he has been a proud principal Board Member for the last 5 years.
CATES in the Arts of NYC | CATES Tutoring
CATES invests company resources in increasing the creative capital of the fertile New York area - Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens - and CATES CEO and founder Chris Ajemian sits on the board of The Chocolate Factory, a premiere arts company based in Long Island City, which provides funding and artistic support for today's most cutting edge performing and visual artists.
Chris Ajemian, chief executive of Cates Tutoring, said his international business charged anything from £200 for basic college entrance test preparation to "£25,000 to £30,000" for a full consultancy service, which included college tours in the US.
Mr Ajemian said that UK undergraduates were attracted by the greater flexibility at US universities. "The idea of going on to a programme where you can't change your mind is not compatible with the youth of today," he said.
